Kaynan Duarte has exploded onto the black belt scene over the past year, and this weekend, he’ll be back in action at Fight 2 Win 117.
Duarte’s F2W appearance will be hot on the heels of his victory over Tanner Rice at F2W 113. This time around, he’ll be facing off against Gutemberg Pereira in a main event gi match. Pereira, a multiple-time F2W veteran himself, is coming off a loss against Erberth Santos at F2W 111, but with wins on the stage against Tim Spriggs and Alexandre Ceconi featured on his record, he’ll provide the challenge Duarte needs and deserves in a competition of this caliber.
The evening’s co-main event will see BJJ legend Baret Yoshida taking on Marcus Norat in a 155-lb gi match. Yoshida is a very familiar face on the F2W stage, having competed for the promotion as early as their fourth event ever. Now, at their 117th event, the multiple-time ADCC veteran will be trying to pull off a win against Norat, who won Worlds in 2002.
The excitement doesn’t end there, though — preceding the co-main event will be a match between Jena Bishop and Luiza Monteiro. Bishop has been making a name for herself in the sport over the years with wins at No-Gi Worlds and World Masters, and this year, she earned her spot to compete at arguably the most prestigious jiu-jitsu tournament in the world by winning the East Coast ADCC Qualifiers. Monteiro, for her part, has a habit of collecting gold in the sport, winning Worlds, No-Gi Worlds, and Pans multiple times throughout her career. The battle between these two will be a tough test of skill for both athletes.
