Get excited, Philadelphia — Fight 2 Win is coming your way again, and this is one that ADCC fans will be particularly excited for.
F2W CEO Seth Daniels has announced that 2017 ADCC winner JT Torres will be going up against 2017 ADCC bronze medalist Vagner Rocha at F2W 119. Rocha, who’s coming off a win at Third Coast Grappling’s second event, has achieved a certain level of infamy on the F2W stage after literally kicking AJ Agazarm off the stage back at F2W 14. Since his DQ loss for that incident, however, he’s been on a winning streak for the promotion. Torres, for his part, has won by submission in both of his appearances for F2W so far.
In the co-main event of the evening, Tim Spriggs will face off against Aaron “Tex” Johnson. Both Johnson and Spriggs qualified for ADCC this year at the East Coast Trials (Spriggs in the 99kg category and Johnson in the +99kg category), making this yet another match to watch if you’re picking favorites for the biggest BJJ competition of the year.
Finally, gold-medal-collecting superstar Claudia do Val will make her return to the big stage, this time against Maria Malyjasiak. Malyjasiak, an ADCC silver medalist herself, won Pans and No-Gi Pans in 2018. Do Val, who also won Pans last year, has earned gold at Worlds for the past three years in a row and is one of the IBJJF’s most successful competitors.
With all the local talent that Philly brings to the BJJ scene, there’s no doubt that F2W 119 will provide a whole night of excitement and submissions on July 27. Make sure you’re watching when it streams live on FloGrappling!
