Jose Aldo And Frankie Edgar Turned Down The Fight With Conor McGregor

The MMA world was shocked when current UFC Lightweight Champion Rafaeal Dos Anjos was forced to pull himself from a bout against current UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor at UFC 196 after suffering a broken foot. We now have this, Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo turned down the fight with McGregor, because Aldo is nowhere near a competitive weight at the moment and Edgar is dealing with an injury. That means with eleven days before UFC 196 is set to take place from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and there is no opponent for McGregor at the moment.

There are some potential opponents out there for Conor McGregor to face, with lightweight/welterweight fight Donald Cerrone and lightweight fighter Nate Diaz being the top candidates at the moment. This would also mean that of the eight times McGregor was scheduled to fight somebody, only four times he actually fought the original opponent. Another interesting idea is to crown an interim lightweight championship, which if Conor McGregor were to actually win, would mean that he would become the first fighter in UFC history to win an interim championship in two different weight classes, but it will be the actual lightweight belt he wants most.
