As the brown belts took to the mats today at the UAEJJF Abu Dhabi World Pro, we saw some of the world’s top jiu-jitsu prodigies cement their place in jiu-jitsu history.
In an intense matchup between two of our top brown belts to watch at the World Pro, Roberto Jimenez went up against Atos’ Jonnatas Gracie in the 94kg finals. Their match quickly went from head-to-head to toe-to-toe, and in the end, Gracie came away with gold and left the silver for Jimenez. Take a look:
One result that surprised exactly no one was that Thalison Soares claimed yet another World Pro title, making quick work of his opponents in the 56kg division along the way. His gold medal match against Japan’s Hiroki Sugimoto was a quick one, but it shows exactly why so many people are talking about this young, talented athlete:
We caught up with Soares after his big win to discuss his results and see what he has planned for the future:
Here are the rest of the male brown belt winners for the day:
56kg – Thalison Soares
62kg – Huseyn Abaszada
69kg – Diego Batista
77kg – Jeferson Guaresi
85kg – Ronaldo Junior

Note: The female brown and black belt divisions are combined at the World Pro, and we will be releasing their results following the black belt finals tomorrow.
