Not that it should come to anyone’s surprise, but former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones is now also a former Interim Light Heavyweight Champion.
According to ESPN, UFC President Dana White stripped Jones of the title a day after the former light heavyweight champ was suspended for a year due to a failed drug test.
White did not mince words when speaking of Jones, either. In an interview with ESPN’s Five Rounds Podcast, the UFC President said:
Jon Jones has blown it in every way shape and form a guy with that much talent can blow it. Greatest talent ever and the biggest screw-up ever.
Thankfully, Bones may have another area to at least partially reclaim his greatness – grappling. The former light heavyweight kingpin is slated to face retired UFC legend Dan Henderson in Chael Sonnen’s Submission Underground II on December 11.
It is not known whether or not Jones’ UFC suspension will affect his ability to compete in December.
