Jon Jones Makes Statement on Domestic Violence Arrest: ‘I never hit my fiancee’

On September 24, just hours after he had been inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was arrested on charges of domestic violence and felony injuring or disabling a vehicle. On Wednesday, in a series of social media posts, Jones addressed for the first time publicly the incident that led to his arrest.

“I love how people are imagining the worst possible situation in their heads and making it somehow factual. I never hit my fiancé and our daughters were woken up after our confrontation. My daughters didn’t see or hear us arguing.

“That’s really the only thing I care to clarify.. outside of that, looking forward to moving forward without alcohol. It’s the first time in my life where I’m actually ready to quit. Glad to have the support of my fiancé, family friends and fans”

Jones categorically denies striking his fiancee.

Per the police report, casino security guards in Las Vegas told police that, in the early morning hours of September 24, Jones’ fiancee, Jessie Moses, came to security to request a new room key. At the time, security guards observed Moses with blood on her face and shirt, and the couple’s children asking security to call the police following an altercation between Jones and Moses. Police later observed blood on Moses’ face, clothing, and the hotel room in which Jones and Moses were staying.

Widely considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters ever, Jones has not competed since a decision win over Dominick Reyes in February 2020. Since then, Jones has vacated his UFC light heavyweight title and announced plans to move up to heavyweight to challenge for a second title. This arrest will likely throw a wrench in those plans.

Jones is set to return to court in Las Vegas on October 26.
