UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones seems to always be in the news for the wrong reasons.
Jones has been charged (but not arrested) with one count of battery for an alleged incident at a strip club in April. His spokesperson, when contacted by KRQE News, claims Jones was unaware of the charge.
The club in question, TD’s Eubank Showclub, was brought to police attention when a cocktail waitress called officers to her home to report an incident with Jones during her shift. She claims Jones slapped her inappropriately and tried to pull her into his lap and kiss her neck while she was trying to wait on tables.
Allegedly, the incident escalated when Jones placed her in a chokehold and picked her up off the ground. She told him to stop, but he allegedly continued touching her until he decided to leave.
Court records reflect that Jones failed to appear for a bond arraignment on June 11 for the battery charge, and since he failed to appear, a bench warrant was issued the following day.
“Today, the media told Mr. Jones about a false accusation launched against him and that paperwork had been sent to an incorrect address,” James Hallinan said in a statement sent to KRQE 13 News. “However, after receiving the documents from the press, Mr. Jones immediately went to pay the small fee, and he, and multiple witnesses, stand ready to factually refute the malicious lies being told about him to the public.”
The warrant was lifted after Jones paid the bond Sunday.
Bloody Elbow has obtained documents from the case (below).
Jones has a had quite a few incidents in the past few years, among them a 2015 incident in which he was involved in a hit-and-run incident with a pregnant woman and a DWI charge in 2012.
Jones, 32, just recently fought at UFC 239 in Las Vegas, where he defended his 205-pound title against Thiago Santos, beating the Brazilian by split decision.
But remember, kids: Jon Jones doesn’t want to be a role model. Jon Jones wants to be a bad motherf***er.
