It is safe to say that Keaton Jones deserves sympathy. After all, who wouldn’t be moved by his heart-breaking account of being bullied at school?
But can the same be said about his mother, Kimberly Jones?
According to some, no.
One of these people is Bellator fighter Joe Schilling. The mixed martial artist and Muay Thai fighter posted a video of himself detailing a disturbing story about Kimberly Jones.
“She [Kimberly] just wants money,” Schilling said after saying he offered to invite Keaton to a Bellator event in order to meet fighters. “She just wants me to share her GoFundMe account. And I asked what the GoFundMe account…what is it for, and she said, ‘Oh, well, you know, Christmas is coming, and I’m a single mother, and blah, blah, blah, money is tight.'”

I’m sorry for my mother’s actions, I’m only a child that just wants bullying to stop! #KeatonJones #JoeSchilling

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh was also critical of Jones’ GoFundMe account.
…and then suddenly, interestingly, because this is how these things always go, a GoFundMe account pops up. Almost immediately, and it’s got $50,000 in it. And then there’s a scholarship fund, and it’s also started, or people were people were talking about starting one. I don’t know how $50,000 in a GoFundMe is going to help Keaton with his bullying problem. I don’t know how that helps.
The Keaton Jones story gives us a good opportunity to have a very politically incorrect discussion about bullying. Also an opportunity to talk about why you shouldn't exploit your child's suffering for attention on the internet.

TMZ did not have much good to say about Kimberly. The celebrity news website did an article about Jones holding a Confederate flag. It reported about how, when called out for it, Kimberly responded in a way that was unsympathetic, to say the least, especially for a woman who wanted the world to sympathize with her bullied son.
Dear Butthurt Americans,
If you aren’t bleeding, no bones are sticking out & you can breathe, STOP crying. For the love, some folks clearly never picked a switch. And before y’all start talking to me about metaphorical, emotional, financial or historical blood & brokenness, Don’t. Join a group.
Is Kimberly Jones exploiting her son for profit?
We here that the Jiu-Jitsu Times certainly hope not.
