Many of us were expecting a scrap when multiple-time Fight of the Night and Submission of the Night winner Joe Lauzon met professional face-puncher Diego Sanchez.
What we got was more of a beating.
Sanchez stepped in early to hit Lauzon with a pair of lefts, but Lauzon returned with a big left of his own, rocking the Albuquerque native and making his legs go rubbery.
Lauzon did not stop there, either. Obviously smelling the end for his opponent, the New Englander laid on the punishment.
In Diego’s defense, he took a lot of shots – more than a lesser fighter would have taken. But long before the end of the round, referee Mark Smith had seen enough, and called a halt to the bout.
