The day after announcing some seriously impressive year-end figures, Fight 2 Win has put out their annual list of the best competitors and matches from the year. We at the Jiu-Jitsu Times are proud to announce that one of our own is among them.
Emil Fischer has earned the spot for the male purple belt no-gi fighter of the year, according to a post by Fight 2 Win CEO Seth Daniels. The honor comes after a highly successful year for Fischer both on the F2W stage and in other competitive endeavors. He went 2-0 for the year (and has a record of 3-1 overall) for the promotion, and after winning gold in the Master 1 heavyweight division of the 2018 No-Gi Pans, he was given the opportunity to compete against Tom DeBlass’ purple belt, David Matiaz Gonzalez, for the purple belt light heavyweight no-gi title at F2W. Fischer’s toe hold secured him the victory and the title.
Fischer, who trains out of Strong Style in Cleveland, OH, finished up the year by earning his brown belt. Given how much he achieved as a purple belt, there’s no telling what accomplishments (and antics) he’ll pursue at his new rank.
