Jiu-Jitsu Times Writer Emil Fischer Earns BJJ Black Belt

Jiu-Jitsu Times writer Emil Fischer is now a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt.

Fischer started training in 1999 and published his first article for the JJT in 2015. Though he trained on and off for some time, sometimes taking years off at a time, and began to train seriously in 2011.

Since then, he’s won No-Gi Pans three times — once each at Masters 1 as a blue and purple belt, and once at Masters 2 as a brown belt. He’s also achieved success on the Fight 2 Win stage, accumulating a record of 8-2. On the F2W stage, he was a purple belt no-gi light heavyweight champion, a brown belt masters light heavyweight champion, and a brown belt masters heavyweight champion. He is also a former Sapateiro light heavyweight champion.

Jiu-Jitsu Times readers may recognize him for both his news articles and event coverage, but his most widely spread articles are undoubtedly his crafty annual April Fools articles.

Congratulations, Emil!
