Elite no-gi competitors Jed Hue and Mateusz Szczecinski will square off for the welterweight title at Polaris 24.
Two of Europe’s top grapplers are set to meet at Polaris 24, as the fast-rising Jed Hue will take on ADCC veteran Mateusz Szczecinski for the promotion’s welterweight title. The event is scheduled for June 3, live from London.
Known for his guard game and dangerous leg locks, Hue has quietly established himself over the past couple of years as one of the UK’s top no-gi competitors. Last November, at Polaris 22, the London-based black belt solidified his status as an elite talent when he competed in the Polaris Middleweight Grand Prix, defeating EBI champion Alan Sanchez and ADCC veteran Oliver Taza before losing to Roberto Jimenez in the final.
Hue had been angling for a match against Polaris three-weight champion Ash Williams, but with Williams set to defend his lightweight title against Ryan Hall at the same event, Hue will have to wait a bit longer.
Szczecinski, meanwhile, is a talented competitor in his own right. The Polish competitor recently competed in his first ADCC World Championship, where he used his trademark straight ankle lock to defeat William Tackett in the opening round before losing a decision to veteran Dante Leon.
