Another member of the Rocha family is now one big step closer to earning a BJJ black belt.
Jasmine Rocha has shared the exciting news that she’s been promoted to brown belt by her coach and father, ADCC medalist Vagner Rocha.
The promotion comes about a year and a half after Jasmine earned her purple belt from Vagner.
Like her father, Jasmine is an active competitor in the BJJ scene. As a blue belt, she took home double gold at the 2017 No-Gi Worlds in the juvenile division, and she’s a fairly regular face on the Fight 2 Win stage — her most recent promotional appearance resulted in a heel hook win over Sheree Kerns at F2W 162 to win a Submission of the Night award. She took home a notable win at last year’s SubStars event when she defeated bodybuilder and John Danaher athlete Nathalia Santoro, and just weeks ago, she claimed the Snake Pit USA catch wrestling featherweight title.
Now that Jasmine’s a brown belt, she’s likely to go up against some even tougher competition, and the BJJ world will be watching to see how she fairs at her new rank.
