Jackson Sousa, Cláudia do Val win double gold at Paris Open

Jackson Sousa has his hand raised after beating Langaker in the absolute division. Maggie Left/IBJJF

Last weekend the French capital welcomed the Paris International Open IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship. Jackson Sousa (Checkmat) stood out above the rest of the men with double gold. In the heavyweight division’s final, he choked Samuel Monin (Gracie Barra) from the back. In the absolute division, the Cantagalo-raised black-belt defeated Norway’s Tommy Langaker (Nova União).

Cláudia do Val (De la Riva) had no opponents at heavyweight, but had to beat Finland’s Emilia Tuukkanen (Gracie Barra) to secure gold in the absolute.

Gracie Barra ranked first among teams, with 212 points, followed by Checkmat, which scored 129.
