The UFC card full of Brazilians set for Fortaleza, which will end the second edition of “TUF Brazil,” had two changes this week. The Englishman John Hathaway, Erick Silva’s opponent, suffered an injury and is out of the card. So, the UFC chose the original opponent of Ildemar Marajó, Jason High, to duel with Silva and now Marajó will fight on June 8 against fellow Brazilian Leandro Buscapé. The information is on the SporTV.com website.
GRACIEMAG.com contacted Marajó so he could comment on the new opponent. The ace, who is the brother of the bantamweight UFC athlete Yuri Marajó, said he knew about the change today but he doesn’t intend to change much of his training:
“I knew about the change this morning, through my manager, and I didn’t have time to study for my new opponent yet,” he said. “I heard he is a Jiu-Jitsu guy, so the strategy won’t change much, just a few sparring partners.”
More about his new opponent, Marajó commented about the fact that he is also Brazilian, and he is ready for any opponent the UFC chooses.
“It’s bad, especially for fans,” he said. “But for me, I see no problem. I am a warrior and I’m ready for anyone, he just needs to be at my weight,” concluded the welterweight, former middleweight Jungle Fight champion who made his debut in the UFC fighting Wagner Caldeirão at light heavyweight.
