IBJJF Worlds 2017: The Top Guys At Middle Weight

The IBJJF Worlds 2017, also known as Mundials, is a prestigious competition that attracts top fighters. It comes as no surprise that some of the leading competitors have gained legendary status; they contribute to the growth of the sport. Fighters like Isaque Bahiense, Joshua Roy Hinger, Magid Hage IV, Gabriel Arges, Otavio Ferreira de Sousa, and Mansher Khera are making a mark thanks to their superb performances.

Isaque Bahiense

Isaque Bahiense is one of the most talented middleweights in the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship. He has earned countless titles in a colorful career. The fighter boasts an impressive grappling record.


Josh Hinger

Hinger is a jiu-jitsu black belt and Black Belt No-Gi World Champion. He has a number of international circuit titles under his belt, including the Chicago International Open, Gracie Worlds, and American No-Gi Nationals. Hinger won the titles as a middleweight.


Magid Hage IV

Magid Hage IV represents Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu in Escondido, California. Over the years, he has earned several titles, including the 2009 Gracie Barra Competition Network Tournament and 2006 California Pankration Tournament. He began practicing jiu-jitsu at the tender age of nine thanks to his father, who was active in the sport for a number of years.


Gabriel Arges

Gabriel Arges rose to fame in the lower divisions before earning his black belt. Some of his notable achievements include IBJJF World Champion (2016 black, 2014 purple), World No-Gi Champion (purple and brown), and Pan American Champion (2014).


Otavio Sousa

Sousa represents Gracie Barra in the middleweight division. The black belt fighter won gold at the IBJJF World Championship in 2012, 2013, and 2016, among other titles. Some sections of the media like to call him the “Steamroller” owing to his superior strength and pace. He spent a considerable time working with renowned coach ‘Zé Radiola’ at the Gracie Academy in Recife.


Mansher Khera

Born in 1992 in New York, Khera’s phenomenal career in jiu-jitsu was nurtured by the legendary Marcelo Garcia. Khera made his way from white to black belt through sheer determination and hard work.
