For all the top-level jiu-jitsu athletes out there, it’s somewhat of a surprise that we don’t see even more of them branching out into MMA. While some elite grapplers like Garry Tonon, Mackenzie Dern, and Michelle Nicolini have taken their jiu-jitsu skills into the cage, many other lower level jiu-jitsu-competitors-turned-MMA fighters might wonder what it is that keeps a lot of the world’s top grapplers from adding a bit of punching and kicking into their competitive careers.
