On Monday, December 12, the scrawny fellow who tormented everybody at UFC 1 in 1993 with locks, takedowns and twists had his birthday. Royce Gracie and his gi taught the world, back when modern MMA was just finding it’s feet, the essence of Jiu-Jitsu – “minimum effort, maximum effectiveness.” Happy birthday, Royce.
