Gustavo Braguinha on the podium.
The IBJJF L.A Open took place this Sunday in California. Among the champions, Gustavo Braguinha and Nathiely de Jesus stood out, each winning double gold.
Braguinha beat Ashur Darmo (Bonsai JJ) in the heavyweight final and then beat Diego ramalho (ZR Team) for the absolute gold medal. A representative of Brotherhood during the competition, Braguinha later announced he was parting ways with that team to join Atos JJ.
Nathiely de Jesus had no opponents at heavyweight, but was forced to defeat Sábatha dos Santos (Ryan Gracie Team) to secure the absolute title.
Additionally, Lucas Pinheiro (AMBJJ) took gold at light featherweight, Johnny Tama (Atos) beat the lightweight field, Gabriel Arges (Gracie Barra) was medium heavyweight champion, and Tanner Rica (Soul Fighters) reigned at super-heavyweight.
Atos was the best-performing team, with 220 points, ahead of CheckMat (182) and BTT (179).
