Gunnar Nelson, 26 years old today, is a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu under Renzo Gracie and John Danaher.
He first made an impression in the world of grappling in 2009, when he won the Pan brown belt middleweight division and finished second in the Worlds.
He then travelled to Barcelona and had a great showing at the 2009 ADCC, finishing the open class division in fourth place after defeating the likes of Jeff Monson and David Avellan.
After that, the Iceland-born Nelson returned to his MMA career that he started in 2007.
Competing in the welterweight division, he is 13-0 and 4-0 in the UFC.
He is currently ranked #12 in the UFC welterweight ranking.
