CheckMat’s Luis Gustavo, a.k.a. Guga, had a fine run in the last two installments of the Rio Open, where he made it to the highest place on the winners’ stand as a middleweight.

The fighter, who has been standing out in gentle art competition, promises to do even better next season. His goal is to win the world title in California in a division littered with top-notch competition like Marcelo Garcia, Claudio Calasans, Kayron Gracie, and Sérgio Moraes. It’s no easy task and so the athlete is keeping on top of his technical training.
