Grapplers Guide Raises Over $30,000 For Gyms Struggling Due To COVID-19 Outbreak

Last month, Jason Scully announced that his BJJ and fitness instructional website Grapplers Guide would be donating 40 percent of its profits to BJJ academy owners who were financially struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gym owners had the option of being added to a “pool” for general donations or being specifically selected by customers at checkout to receive their portion of the proceeds.

The site, which has recently added a number of instructionals specifically tailored to grapplers in isolation, concluded its donation campaign a few days ago, and now, Scully has informed the Jiu-Jitsu Times that Grapplers Guide’s efforts have raised a total of $30,886 for gyms in need.

“Thirteen BJJ academies received between $1,000 to $2,000 in funds,” said Scully. “The remaining academies received between $150 and $750. We were able to give 30 academies some sort of financial assistance. I was hoping to raise more, but during these times everyone’s sales are dropping a bit. Very fortunate that we were able to raise that much.”

While the donation campaign has ended, Grapplers Guide is still providing a discount of over 67 percent on a lifetime membership to the site, charging just $97 for full access to their content.
