The highly anticipated match between Gordon Ryan and Ralek Gracie finally happened at the Metamoris Challenge, and the results were exactly what Ryan anticipated they would be.
The match started out with Ryan pulling guard. Gracie quickly attempted an armbar, but ultimately let it go and was unable to prevent his opponent from passing his guard. Ryan then took Gracie’s back and put him in a body triangle, and although Gracie managed to escape, Ryan quickly transitioned to mount.
Ryan then moved to side control and worked transitions from top positions, using his knees to keep his opponent controlled beneath him. Around the nine-minute mark, Ryan was able to trap Gracie in a triangle and submit him, fulfilling his own prediction that he’d be able to beat the Metamoris promoter with a triangle or an armbar.
After the match, both competitors displayed humility and complimented each other on the effect they were having on the sport.
The proceeds earned from this event will go towards paying not only the athletes on this card, but also those that were famously owed money from previous Metamoris events.
