ADCC 99kg and absolute champion Gordon Ryan has had to withdraw from next Saturday’s King of the Mat tournament in Ohio, according to a post from the event.
According to the post, Ryan withdrew from the event due to an “ongoing hand injury.” At ADCC, Ryan had detailed the events of a freak accident that resulted in him needing to bandage his hand for the entirety of the Championship.
A replacement for Ryan hasn’t yet been announced, and the promotion is currently looking for a highly skilled brown or black belt to potentially face contenders like Dante Leon, Kyle Boehm, and Roberto Jimenez for the $10k grand prize.
