This year’s ADCC was full of unforgettable moments, and one of them was wrestler and BJJ blue belt Nick Rodriguez climbing his way up to the finals after defeating jiu-jitsu legends like Mahamed Aly, Orlando Sanchez, and Cyborg. By the time Rodriguez made it to the finals, a lot of people thought he just might beat black belt phenom Kaynan Duarte. But as we all know now, Duarte ultimately defeated Rodriguez in their match, cementing his place in history as the 2019 +99kg ADCC champion.
In just two days, though — less than a month since their fateful match at ADCC — Duarte and Rodriguez will face each other yet again, this time in the main event at Fight 2 Win 128. The match was scheduled before ADCC had even started, and given that both competitors went on to establish themselves as two of the best +99kg competitors in the world, it’s fair to say that Fight 2 Win CEO Seth Daniels knows what he’s doing when it comes to matchmaking. Will Duarte once again make himself known as the superior grappler? Or will the weeks of training since ADCC have given Rodriguez the knowledge and experience he needs to come out ahead this time? We’ll find out in their 230lb no-gi match.
Theirs won’t be the only exciting match to look forward to; Joao Miyao will also be on the stage in the co-main event, taking on Lucas Pinheiro for the featherweight no-gi title. Plus, as always, we’ll have plenty more entertaining matches from local talented competitors throughout the evening.
