They don’t call him “The Lion Killer” for nothing.
Garry Tonon, one of the most dangerous men on John Danaher’s “Death Squad”, is the lightweight, welterweight, and now, light heavyweight champion of the Eddie Bravo Invitational.
Tonon not only went into EBI 9 on short notice, but smaller than the light heavyweight competitors at the show. Still, he showed much of his trademark calmness and playfulness during his matches.
The Lion Killer unsurprisingly took his first two victories via heel hook. However, much to the credit of his last two opponents – Daniel O’Brian and Vinny Magalhaes – Tonon was not able to end his matches within the ten-minute regulation EBI allots to its competitors.
Still, Garry came out on top, with the belt around his waist.
However, Tonon said he is not done with his last opponent of the night, Vinny Magalhaes. The Lion Killer told fans at the Orpheum that he and Vinny are now one and one, and he wants to settle the score in a submission-only tournament.
Now, that sounds like it’s worth watching!
