Garry Tonon Fighting Thanh Le For ONE Featherweight World Title

Garry Tonon’s 6-0 MMA record has earned him the opportunity to fight for a World Championship on December 5th.

Chatri Sityodtong, Founder and CEO of ONE Championship, made the announcement in an interview on ‘The MMA Hour’ with host Ariel Helwani

“The nastiest heel hooks, you know, ripping legs since he was a kid. Very very dangerous now because he’s also an outstanding striker.”

Tonon’s 6 wins feature 4 submissions and 2 TKO’s. The 5-time EBI Champion will face current featherweight champion, Thanh Le; an elite TaeKwonDo fighter and BJJ brown belt under UFC leglocker Ryan Hall. Le holds an MMA record of 12-2 and has never been to the judge’s scorecards. On ‘The Ultimate Fighter Season 22’ he won his first match by knockout and lost his second by RNC.

The card is set to be one of the biggest in the promotion’s history, with Demetrious Johnson fighting Rodtang Jitmuangong, flyweight Muay Thai ONE Champion. Their 4-round bout has a unique structure, alternating between muay Thai and MMA for each round. Later in the night, Bibiano Fernandes faces John Lineker for the bantamweight World Title.

ONE X happens on December 5 at 8:30 a.m. ET.
