Bellator champion Julia Budd has a winning streak ten fights deep going, and now wants to go head-to-head with another champion: nine-time BJJ gold winner Gabi Garcia.
Bloody Elbow first noticed the callout of the grappling great:
Garcia responded via Instagram stories saying only: “Really? Anytime.” And then tagged Bellator and Rizin in the post.
Budd is a muay thai assassin who fights MMA at 145lbs., leaning heavily on striking to cultivate her current title. The currently undefeated Garcia is one of the winningest black belts in martial arts and has a significant size advantage, with her heaviest weigh-in landing at 237lbs.
The proposed matchup would not be Bellator and Rizin’s first collaboration. The promotions paired up for the New Year’s Eve match between Darrion Caldwell and champ Kyoji Horiguchi in Japan.
