Gabi Garcia’s Shoot Boxing Opponent Megumi Yabushita

Gabi Garcia, the nine-time BJJ world champion has made news once again. It has been announced that Garcia will be facing pro-wrestler and MMA star Megumi Yabushita at Girls S-Cup 2017, which will take place on July 7 in Tokyo. The fight will have Shoot Boxing rules, which allows for moves like punches, elbows, knees and standing submissions.

This fight will no doubt be an interesting competition, as Garcia has an impressive 4-0 record in MMA. However, Yabushita has an interesting record as well. Yabushita was the winner of the Smackgirl Open Weight Champion, the runner-up in the Smackgirl First Middleweight Queen tournament and the runner-up in the Remix Open Weight World Tournament in 2000. She is also quite famous for defeating the 330-pound Russian Svetlana Gourdarenko in the 2000 Remix World Cup. In regards to Shoot Boxing, this will be Yabushita’s first Shoot fight since losing to Hiroko Yamanaka in 2011.

With this said, Yabushita is not the only challenge that Garcia will have in July, as she is set to compete at the Rizin Fighting Federation’s World Grand Prix on July 30th where she will most likely face Oskana Gagloeva. While Garcia has no shortage of competitions this month, all of her fights will no doubt be a thrill to witness.
