Nowadays, Francis Ngannou is one of the big names (and a title contender) in the UFC, but it certainly wasn’t an easy journey there. Originally from Cameroon, Ngannou journeyed to France when he was in his mid-twenties, believing (correctly, as it turned out) that he could get the training he needed there to have a successful career in striking. He eventually transitioned to MMA, and the rest is history.
Even Ngannou’s relocation to Europe was filled with difficulties, though — he was jailed for entering Europe illegally, released after two months by Spain’s homeland security.
