Former UFC Fighter Abel Trujillo Charged With Felony Exploitation Of A Child

Abel Trujillo, who fought eleven times for the UFC against opponents including Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov, has been charged with felony exploitation of a child and felony obscenity, according to TSN.

Trujillo was extradited from Florida to Colorado in June. The details of the charges aren’t publicly available at this time, but Colorado law defines “sexual exploitation of a child” as “possessing, producing or distributing sexually explicit material (pornography) involving a child under 18.” The Colorado court documents obtained by TSN describe Trujillo’s obscenity charge as “a person commits wholesale promotion of obscenity to a minor if, knowing its content and character, such person wholesale promotes to a minor or possesses with intent to wholesale promote to a minor any obscene material.”

Per TSN, Iowa court records also show that this isn’t Trujillo’s first serious charge. In 2007, he was convicted of domestic abuse causing injury, and two years later, he was convicted of and domestic abuse assault. According to Bloody Elbow, Trujillo’s convictions were made public in 2012 — nevertheless, he continued to fight for the UFC until 2017.
