Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Vitor Belfort has booked an exhibition boxing match against Olympic gold medalist boxing champ Oscar de la Hoya for a September Triller event.
The bout is expected to take place in Las Vegas in September, though reports are conflicting as to whether it will take place on the 11 or the 18.
Both athletes are in their forties, with Belfort being 44 and de la Hoya being 48. The latter retired following a loss to Manny Pacquiao at the end of 2008 following a decorated career that saw him win a number of championship titles across six weight classes.
Belfort’s last MMA fight took place in 2018 against Lyoto Machida, resulting in a second-round loss for Belfort. The 2001 ADCC bronze medalist signed with ONE Championship in 2019, with a fight against Alain Ngalani scheduled for 2020, but the bout never materialized. Belfort has since parted ways with the promotion.
Triller is known for its entertainment-focused events, having famously hosted Jake Paul‘s boxing matches. The September event, too, will reportedly feature a number of musical guests in addition to the fights taking place.
