Cain Velasquez, the UFC’s former heavyweight champion, has been released from jail on a bail of 1 million dollars, following eight months of lockup time, per MMA Junkie’s Nolan King. Velasquez was originally booked on charges of attempted murder after the former UFC star reportedly shot at Harry Goularte, who allegedly molested Velasquez’s four-year-old son.
According to MMA Junkie, Velasquez had previously been denied bail three times, before Santa Clara County Judge Arthur Bocanegra finally granted the request, describing Velasquez’s alleged actions as “extremely serious” but “isolated behavior.”
Bocanegra reportedly told Velasquez, “If you are as devoted a husband and father, I’m confident and have to believe you will not jeopardize anything that would take you away from your son, your daughter, your family. I hope you don’t prove me wrong.”
Velasquez assured the judge that he would not.
