The jiu-jitsu world has welcomed a new black belt following the promotion of Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Zoltan Bathory.
Bathory was promoted to black belt in BJJ by Royler Gracie and Mica Cipili after thirteen years of training in the martial art, which began with a single class with Royce Gracie back in 2008.
Bathory shared the exciting news on social media:
“Yesterday was a really-really special day that I got to spend with my good friends – master @roylergracie – professor @micacipili and the rest of my Jiu-Jitsu family at @gracielasvegas It took 13 years hard work (& some fat lips and some black eyes ) to get ready for the shark infested waters of Jiu-Jitsu blackbelts …and It gets much much much harder from here
But we love this …. because – this – is – Spartaaaaaaa #jiujitsu
…and to all of my jiu-jitsu brothers around the world who I trained with… competed with… Thank you guys for all the mat time and your friendship”
In addition to now being a BJJ black belt, Bathory also has a black belt in judo. He also practices Wing Chun Kung-Fu and has been certified by the US Army as an L1 Modern Army Combatives Instructor for Close Quarter Combat.
Bathory has also competed in BJJ, taking home silver at the Abu Dhabi Pro Jiu-Jitsu World Trials back in 2011 as a white belt. He also tied for third in the Master 3 category at the IBJJF World Masters in 2012 when he was a blue belt.
