Fighter Appears To Lose Finger In The Middle Of MMA Fight

Content Warning: This post contains footage of a graphic injury.

The title is not an exaggeration.

Canadian MMA fighter Khetag Pliev went into his CFFC 94 fight against Devin Goodale with ten fingers and came out with nine.

The details surrounding the bizarre injury are still shrouded in mystery, but it was first noted that Pliev’s ring finger was missing during the time between the second and third round of the fight. Commentators CM Punk and John Morgan were in understandable disbelief when they realized what had happened:

Goodale was declared the winner of the fight via TKO after the second round.

Neither of the fighters seemed to have noticed the detachment of the finger, and it’s unclear at exactly what point in the fight the digit may have come off. The only indication of a problem came in round two when the fighters were up against the cage and Pliev complained that his opponent was holding onto his glove. The referee issued a warning to Goodale, and the fight continued.

To add to the craziness, there was a considerable amount of time in which Pliev’s missing finger couldn’t be located, leading to a PA announcement to everyone in attendance to be on the lookout.

Thankfully, the finger was later found inside Pliev’s glove.
