Lower on the card, Atos representative and underdog Gustavo Batista put on a methodical performance to defeat Tex Johnson by decision, and elite black belt Samir Chantre also earned a close decision win. The main event saw top bantamweight Junny Ocasio bounce back from a loss to Mikey Musumeci with a decision win over Carlos Oliveira. After an early guard pull, Ocasio attacked from open guard for the entire match, and although neither man was able to ever secure a truly close submission attempt, it was Ocasio’s constant aggression and attempts to enter on the legs that earned him the decision.
In the co-main event, Ares representative Samir Chantre used steady top pressure and a near-guard pass early in the match to secure a very close decision win over Fight Sports competitor Orlando Castillo.
Lower on the card, Gustavo Batista worked from top position on Tex Johnson for essentially the entire match, as Batista largely tried to work from the headquarters passing position, while Johnson attempted to invert to attack Batista’s legs. But with about two minutes remaining in the match, Batista solidified a pass to side control, where he immediately threatened a north/south choke followed by a d’arce choke attempt. Those submission attempts and positional dominance were enough to earn him the decision.
