Former UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic swapped the Octagon for the mats this past weekend as he featured in the co-main event of Fight 2 Win 110.
While a grappling match seems like a huge step down from his usual UFC main event berth, Stipe Miocic took to the stage in a bid to raise funds for the National Fallen Fire Fighters Association.
Miocic wrestled at a collegiate level, so grappling is hardly anything new to him, but as the match took place in the gi, the heavyweight star seemed to struggle somewhat. Despite some positional success, Miocic struggled to deal with Aaron Howard’s submission attempt onslaught.
The former UFC champ was able to score a few guard passes, but the judges ultimately scored the bout in favor of Howard.

It’s not all bad news for Miocic, it has been announced that he will likely be facing Daniel Cormier for the UFC title in August.
