Fight 2 Win 131 was set to be an exciting event from the moment CEO Seth Daniels announced he’d be putting up 16-year-old ADCC semifinalist Tye Ruotolo against one of jiu-jitsu’s most entertaining competitors, Vagner Rocha. The matchup may seem, well, mismatched, but Rocha was the only top-level competitor willing to take the match.
The pairing might seem odd, but it’s caused a lot of hype in the jiu-jitsu community. While many feel certain that Rocha will brutally defeat Ruotolo, a defeat against Rocha wouldn’t be the first time the teen had pulled off a big surprise in competition — ADCC was proof of that.
Best of all, the Rocha vs. Ruotolo match isn’t the only one featuring some big names. The co-main event will be a Masters Lightweight Gi title match between No-Gi Master champion Marcos Torregrosa and Sean Nikmorad. Before that, 2019 ADCC bronze medalist Josh Hinger and former No-Gi World Champion Murilo Santana will battle it out in a 185lb no-gi match. And before that, 2019 ADCC competitor Edwin Najmi will face off against American and Brazilian Nationals Champion Jaime Canuto. Their match will take place at 180 lbs in the gi.
