Ffion Davies — perhaps the pound-for-pound most accomplished female grappler currently competing — will be taking on a dynamic and highly dangerous opponent in Jasmine Rocha at the co-main event for Tezo WNO’s August 10 show, per a social media announcement over the weekend.
Rocha turned heads back at February’s WNO show by submitting an otherwise dominant-looking Amanda Bruse — via a no-gi ezekiel choke, no less. In the post-fight interview, she also expressed a desire to be known for her own accomplishments, rather than simply as “Vagner Rocha’s daughter.”
By taking on Ffion — who currently reigns as both an ADCC and IBJJF World champion — Jasmine likely enters this matchup as an underdog, but might just get her chance to continue building her own legacy in the sport, independent of her family name.
