Carina and Bia shared the top of the podium in the women’s absolute.
Held last weekend at Jornalista Felipe Drummond stadium, the IBJJF’s 2019 Belo Horizonte Winter Open gathered stars in Minas Gerais to set the mats on fire. By the end, Fernando Reis (Alliance) and Carina Santi (G13BJJ) had each bagged double gold.
Fernando’s two gold medals came as he closed out the heavyweight division with his buddy Caio Paganini for Alliance and later waged war against Otávio Nalati (Guigo JJ) in the absolute, coming out ahead by one advantage.
To secure her own double gold, Carina first had to win the heavyweight final against Graciele Carvalho (Barbosa JJ). She later closed out the absolute with Bia Basílio (Almeida JJ).
Arthur Gogó (GFTeam Cascadura) and Juninho Boi (FF Team), our partners, joined forces to reign over the master 2 age group. They arrived together in the super-heavy final and closed it out. In the absolute, Juninho opened the way for Gogó in their semifinal match, and Gogó went on to win.
