Voting is officially underway to decide who will face Guetho/Atos rep Guto Campos for the Super Desafio supermatch to kick off the middleweight grand prix that headlines the sophomore Copa Pódio Jiu-Jitsu Championship, to be held July 14 in Rio de Janeiro.
The public gets to pick between the following athletes who will be competing at the event: André Bastos (Nova União), Lucas Leite (Checkmat), Murilo Santana (Barbosa JJ/Cícero Costha), Rafael Formiga (Soul Fighters), Raphael Abi-Rihan (Abi-Rihan JJ/Carlson Gracie), Rômulo Barral (GBBH) and Wancler Oliveira (GFTeam) by stopping by the promotion’s Facebook page. All you need to do is respond to the poll.
“Starting in the coming days, the public will have the option of voting on the event website, www.jiujitsuesportivo.com.br,” explains event organizer Jeferson Maycá. “Everyone will get to vote as many times as they like, but to attend to the more anxious, we opened the poll on the Facebook fanpage, which is currently the quickest outlet for communication.”
The poll ends on March 15, and to vote, all you have to do is “like” the page and check off the name of the athlete you wish to see in the supermatch: www.facebook/copapodio.gpmedios.
EYES ON JIU-JITSU HEAVYWEIGHTS
The promotion has already shown signs that it is going into 2012 at full steam, and to shake things in the Jiu-Jitsu community up even more, two grand spectacles are already on tap for later in the year: besides the middleweight GP, there’s a heavyweight GP planned for December 15, for athletes weighing up to 92 kg without the gi.
The first name confirmed for the contest is none other than world champion Rodolfo Vieira, who will be representing GFTeam. The organizers intend to announce the name of one new athlete per month, so as to hype the event up until the final days preceding the competition.
The heavyweight GP page is also online already. Drop by and give it a “like”: www.facebook/copapodio.gppesados.
