Life has been hard for interim UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones. Though he is widely considered one of the best mixed martial artists in the world (with only one controversial disqualification loss to sully his otherwise pristine 23-fight MMA career) frequent problems with the authorities both inside and outside of the UFC have prevented him from reigning atop MMA’s pound-for-pound mountain for long.
Now, it appears life may be getting harder for Bones. After being flagged for drug violations last month, the interim champ was removed from his UFC 200 match-up against reigning Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.
UFC fan, Sean Slattery apparently wasn’t happy with Jones’ removal, and he is taking his grievances all to the courtroom!
According to the lawsuit Slattery filed in San Diego Superior Court, the UFC fan purchased tickets with “the express purpose” of seeing Jones fight.
However . . .
” . . . Jones was dropped from the fight card after officials learned that he had tested positive for banned performance-enhancing and/or masking substances. Plaintiff was thus robbed and defrauded of the value of the tickets, wherein he suffered both economic and non-economic harm, as a result of Jones’s actions in violating anti-doping regulations, and First Round’s complicity therein. In the alternative, Jones failed to disclose other controlled substances, and in doing so was negligent, to the relevant testing officials which again deprived Plaintiff of the value of his tickets.”
