A two-time ADCC world champion and former heavyweight UFC champion, Fabrício Werdum remains steadfast in his pursuit of a title shot. After achieving a quick finish in his latest bout, at UFC 216, the Brazilian will soon return to the Octagon.
Werdum has been announced as half of the main event of UFC Australia, slated for Nov. 18 in Sydney. He will take on Poland’s Marcin Tybura. Werdum steps in to replace Mark Hunt, who the organization said has a medical issue.
Werdum (22w, 7l, 1t) seeks to get another winning streak going, like the one that culminated in him nabbing the belt in June 2015. Since losing the title to Stipe Miocic, Werdum defeated Travis Browne, lost to Alistair Overeem and then beat Walt Harris.
Tybura (16w, 2l) has good momentum going in. A loss in his UFC debut was quickly made up for with three consecutive wins.
