Erberth Santos defeated Mahamed Aly at ACBJJ Heavyweight Grand Prix.
Santos pulled guard early in the match and managed to get a nice closed guard sweep. Aly, however, recovered and spent most of the rest of the match in Erberth’s guard.
Unfortunately, that was last either fighter was on the ground. Throughout the second and third round, both fighters were on their feet, fighting for grips. Mahamed tried to get some double leg takedowns and even a couple of sweeps, but could not take Santos off his feet.
Though the fight was at a stalemate 99 percent of the time, the judges awarded the match to Santos, who will be moving on to the semi-finals.
