Erberth Santos, a multiple-time IBJJF world champion, was arrested alongside fellow black belt Andre Pessoa this week by authorities in Brazil for multiple violent crimes, which allegedly included the rape of four women, per reporting by G1. The two men also reportedly tied the women up, and threatened, robbed, and violently assaulted them.
According to reporting by Bloody Elbow‘s Lucas Rezende, Santos has a history of violence, including public brawling and physical assaults on opponents at jiu-jitsu tournaments.
Santos and Pessoa are currently being held in police custody.
