The red belts that remain in the world are the actual pioneers of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and are a true treasure trove of history. A time is coming when these OGs will no longer be with us.
FYI to obtain a red belt in BJJ you must first teach BJJ as a black belt for 20 years, THEN you get a coral (black with red) belt. After you teach for 20 years as a coral belt, you get your red, grandmaster belt.
The earliest age possible to attain this degree is 61 years old.
