Held Dec. 3 at the Lincoln High School in San Diego, CA, the Five Grappling Super League gave BJJ fans an exciting eight-man welterweight tourney, and the winner was Edwin Najmi. He defeated three opponents, two of which by submission.
First Najmi subbed Bill Cooper via D’arce choke. Then he fought Marcelo Mafra, who had beat Mansher Khera. Najmi attempted several neck attacks but couldn’t break through. At the end of the six-minute match, Najmi was awarded the unanimous win.
Finally, Najmi fought John Combs, who had beat Brian Morizzi and Sean Roberts. Najmi quickly attacked Combs’ foot and finished on an Estima lock, named after Victor Estima.
