Edwin Najmi decided to speak his mind on Facebook.
“As a jiu jitsu competitor, you can win all the super fights and random events you want. But at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is your performance at the Pan Ams, Worlds, and ADCC.”
Keep in mind that this is the same competitor who has earned several prestigious awards, such as the 2015 brown belt World championship and the 2014 purple absolute. He went on to become the 2015 brown belt European Open Champion, too.
Edwin Added:
“I think a lot of people misunderstood my argument. At the end of the day, you will be judged on your performance at these tournaments when being considered of the sports greats. Not performing well at these events or performing well at the other superfights and events does not make you nobody, you just can’t be considered the best. It’s like a gi grappler not getting a medal at the pan ams or worlds. or a nogi grappler not winning ADCC. How can you consider him/her the best?”
Edwin Najmi is known for his power grips and triangular technique. Most of his Brazilian jiu-jitsu training comes in handy at these tournaments, especially because he is known as a people-pleaser. Najmi’s talent won over the crowds in no time, which is understandable since he is such a natural talent.
