Eddie Bravo Announces Return Of EBI In 2022

10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu leader Eddie Bravo has announced that his groundbreaking grappling promotion, the Eddie Bravo Invitational (EBI), will be returning in the spring of 2022.

Bravo made the announcement during the CJJ Welterweights competition over the weekend, noting that he planned to put on both EBI and CJJ Worlds shows throughout the year. All of the shows will stream live on UFC FightPass.

The first EBI show of 2022 will be a welterweight

tournament, with Tye Ruotolo, Nicky Ryan, and Nathan Orchard already confirmed participants, per Bravo.

It’s been a few years since we last saw an EBI show. The promotion debuted in 2014, with Geo Martinez claiming the featherweight title and Garry Tonon taking home the welterweight title. In addition to propelling the careers of many of today’s top sub-only grapplers, EBI also launched the now-commonplace “EBI overtime” ruleset.

Recently, though, Bravo and the EBI team have been focused on expanding and developing other competition formats, including Combat Jiu-Jitsu Worlds and, as of this past weekend, Medusa Jiu-Jitsu. Fans have been hoping for a return of the original EBI format, and it looks like we’ll only have to wait a few more months to see it happen.

The Jiu-Jitsu Times will provide updates on the return of EBI as they become available.
