Durinho wins main event in Japan and Satoshi takes GP

A match GRACIEMAG.com announced back in July, Gilbert Durinho faced Hidehiko Hasegawa in a submission grappling match at Japan’s Deep event this Sunday. Keeping up his good run, the Atos black belt won the bout by a large margin on the scorecards.
“Thank God everything went well. i won 32 to 0 on points. I tried to get the finish the whole time, but I didn’t manage to. At some points in the match I lost patience, it seemed like all Hidehiko did in training was practice defense!” he told GRACIEMAG.com.
“But it was really cool. I was in the Deep 6 main event and my opponent is really famous in Japan. He’s had several MMA fights and has a lot of sambo titles,” added Durinho, direct from Japan.

Another to put in a good appearance at the event was Roberto Satoshi, winner of this year’s Asian Open at middleweight and absolute brown belt.

“He did really well. He did the GP and, even as a brown belt, he submitted three black belts in less than a minute. The kid’s on fire,” said Durinho in praise, now going to continue his training in Japan before embarking for the No-Gi Worlds.

“I’ll stick around here training at Bonsai academy, with Marcus Souza and Satoshi. I’ll stay here for over a month. I have seminars to teach this Monday and two more scheduled in Tokyo. Tuesday I’ll head back to Hamamatsu, where I’ll continue my no-gi training for the Worlds,” said Durinho in closing.
